Great ending. Unexpected too, but it paid off in the end. I do wish they didn't drag it on for so long, though... a lot of flashbacks. I guess they have to slow it down since they're already past the king of the mountain award. Last inter-high in S2 I think they only got past that around episode 20 of the season.

I don't like it - I loved it. It's just that it's looking way too much like Junta no Pedal than anything else. We already had our share of Junta in season 1 and I didn't mind the duo again in season two, I mean his partner didn't have near as much screen time as Junta and was way more amazing than him.

It's a show about teams not side characters, and Midousuji and his team is not getting as much screen time as these two guys, and honestly the fucking main character and his main rival look like the real side characters in this show!!!

The Polka dot jersey is big, yeah everyone knows that I mean everyone watches the tour du France and their own country's tour at least, I didn't like it as they made a no one win a big jersey, but I don't mind it much cause it's an anime, but what I hated was wasting 3 or more episodes to get to the mountain line, I mean they could go explore these relations through the season not do a 1H episode about 2 side characters.

Junta is the creator's favorite character. He also won favorite character in Japanese popularity polls twice and scored high in other polls that he didn't win. Meanwhile Mido didn't win a single popularity poll. A lot of people love Junta, just because you personally don't doesn't mean anything.

But Junta is a well loved character who doesn't ordinarily get a lot of screen time. It was a treat for his fans for him to get this much attention before the main characters get the spotlight again.

The manga didn't actually drag out their relationship like in the anime, so yes, these few episodes are technically a "filler" from the anime. You don't need to hate on other people criticizing an anime you like, just because they dont have the same opinion as you.

I, too, love the show, there's a reason why I am still watching it, and even went to read raw scans of the manga to find out what will happen. The additional flashback of Teshima and Akishiba are placed too late by this anime, because once these 3 eps are over we won't be seeing Teshima and Akishiba compete again. What's the point of so many flashbacks right at the end, when we won't see them compete again in the future?

Yeah, jumping to conclusion and saying others don't like the anime just because he didn't enjoy these side character scene is not hating, just voicing your opinion. By that logic, I'm voicing my own opinion too, who said I was offended? Oh, was it because I didn't add 'imo'? My bad. C'mon, you don't need to downplay that that you jumped into the comment section being a keyboard warrior just because you didn't agree with somebody, I did that here too. OP handled that way better than me.

For the manga, I am pretty sure that chiba race encounter wasn't inside. I believe this one last final race for them was the one that really resolved their tension between each other. If the chiba race was really added in, storywise it already served to resolve that tension off screen. If that was the case, it would be so weird to have that scene where Ashikiba did that villian-esque sequence of ignoring Teshima throwing the water at him, expecting him to catch. And if the manga really had that inside, do let me know which chapter it was so I can re-read it.

For the last part, do explain, and I really do mean this without sarcasm, to me why you're speechless instead of leaving it with that sentence. You can see there are people commenting that they don't enjoy this particular flashback. I'll explain in more detail why I wrote that. We didn't really care too much about their relationship until they showed us this. If we were shown these flashbacks at the start of the first day, or heck, even just the start of the third day, maybe the viewers could have been more invested in this particular race to the top.

That flashback really showed a solid friendship between the two and how they resolved it over their common bond of cycling, I'll give the author and the animation studio credit, but what's next for them in this series? I'd assume there won't be much. So for me the backstory came too little too late for me to really invest in these two characters. In comparison, there was that tension between Makishima and Toudou too in the previous generation, but I felt that was written so much better because it was consistently shown that they had a rivalry from the start. The disappointment, at least for me, was there when they failed to have a final duke out in the inter high, but instead having to settle for it on some nameless road afterwards, only seen by Onoda (iirc).

I am glad their story line is over. No hate, but it was stretched way too thin. They should have done that in one single episode.

Anyway, looking forward to the next.
